Fall is just around the corner and I rejoice thinking of the cooler temperatures that God has in store for us. As each season changes I’m reminded of His sovereign control over even the weather (cf Genesis 8:22). Not only do the seasons change but so do our lives; both individually and corporately as a church family. We all experience a constant cycle of change as we go through life. We all grow older; our kids grow up and begin their adult lives and careers; friends and loved ones pass on. All of creation changes with time.
But as time goes on and changes occur all around us, take courage in the unchanging God we serve. His loving forgiveness is never ending for the repentant heart, and His promise to never forsake His people should bring us great comfort no matter how unbearable our conditions. God is the one constant in an ever changing world, so let us look to Him during our times of change—even when those changes are most difficult and filled with uncertainties. Above all, let’s seek to honor and glorify Him with our lives no matter what changes we face. Regardless of our changing circumstances, I Corinthians 10:31 should constantly be in the forefront of our minds and hearts as we seek to serve God daily.
Fall and winter will be here soon. Until then, let’s be about God’s work and glorify Him as together we “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
By His Grace,
Pastor Johnny
