Tom grew-up in central Arkansas and after graduating from high-school, he enlisted in the Army. Tom began his outreach mission when he was sent to Panama Central America, where he trusted Christ for salvation. Tom became involved with Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers and when his enlistment was complete, he remained in Panama and worked at the local servicemen’s center for one year. It was during this time Tom met my future wife, DeeDee Vazquez, who was in Panama serving with New Tribes Mission. During his year serving with the servicemen’s center, Tom committed to full-time ministry and was engaged. After leaving Panama, he was married and began training at Columbia Bible College in Columbia South Carolina.
After Tom graduated from college and his wife graduated from nursing school, the pair both began to work in the Columbia area and began to start a family. Tom attended Columbia Biblical Seminary, which changed it’s name to Columbia International University. After graduating from seminary, Tom attended one year at Dallas Theological Seminary.
During his time in school, Tom served in a number of different ministries and after graduating, became involved in residential construction and served in local churches leading missions teams overseas, teaching and filling pulpits, teaching in a number of different school settings.
For six years, Tom served as pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Gaston South Carolina. In January of 2013, Tom began serving as pastor of Longview Baptist Church here in Franklin.
